  • 2.7.a Act No. 22 (2000), on Standards and Specifications, determines the criteria, specifications and technical standards applicable to goods, whether imported or manufactured locally, as well as the evaluation procedures corresponding to those standards and specifications, as stated in article 14 (a) of the Act:

  • The Specifications and Standards Act (No. 22 of 2000) sets standards, specifications and technical criteria that must be met by local and imported products and establishes procedures for evaluating compliance with those specifications and standards. Such compliance is measured in accordance with international practice and involves attention to the protection of health and the environment and the general safety of citizens by ensuring that products conform to technical standards. The Act specifies the procedures to be followed in cases where the owner of the commodity does not abide by the technical standards (this was covered in some detail in Jordan's first report).
    وحدد قانون المواصفات والمقاييس رقم (22) لسنة 2000 المعايير والمواصفات القياسية والقواعد الفنية التي يجب توافرها في المنتجات المحلية والمستوردة وإجراءات تقييم المطابقة لتلك المواصفات والقواعد, وذلك وفقاً للممارسات الدولية المتّبعة مع مراعاة توفير الحماية الصحية والبيئية والسلامة العامة للمواطنين من خلال التأكد من أن المنتجات مطابقة للقواعد الفنية, وقد حدد القانون الإجراءات الواجب إتباعها في حال عدم تقيد صاحب السلعة بالقواعد الفنية (وهو ما تم شرحه بشيء من التفصيل في تقرير الأردن الأول).
